God has placed in each person’s spirit, a unique purpose while we are here on this earth. As the ultimate Creator, He doesn’t take the creative arts lightly. Artists, musicians, writers, and artisans of a variety of skilled crafts have a profound influence on the spiritual culture of societies.
So why don’t we see more people freed through the creation and experience of the arts?
Satan seeks to steal, kill and destroy and his primary attack is against each person’s God-given, distinct purpose. “For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
We each have specific callings that were known before the creation of the world to be our very own divine assignments. Furthermore, God gave each of us a set of particular tools that we need to fulfill our role on the earth. If Satan can persuade us that what God has created us for, is in fact not really our purpose, he can divert us from seeing and knowing our true identities.
The above pen and ink drawing is titled, The Falcon Boy. It is a depiction of a recurring vision from God that has continued to morph over the last 8 years relating to my own identity in the realm of heaven. At certain key intervals throughout recent years, I have had vivid visions of a bird of prey and encounters with falcons and the like. Without going into a lot of detail, I know it is God getting my attention based on the non-coincidental nature of these experiences. The falcon represents the Holy Spirit and this image of myself as the falcon boy has to do with the idea of dressing in the Holy Spirit and going wherever He leads. John 3:8 “The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” In this way, I don’t have to worry about what job I have, what country I live in or what places I visit because I’m not the one in control. As I put on my falcon costume, I am being led on a Great Adventure that will never grow dull.
As people, we have various skills and giftings that we need to use. Not only for our own sanity, but because there are people out there in the world that need to see our creations in order to have revelations of the King. Perhaps our unique perspectives are the only key that will unlock the doors of awaiting people who are seeking freedom. If we stop creating, we stop bringing life to a dark world.
Know that you were created with a purpose that nobody else in all of history can implement and to stay true to your calling is of eternal importance.
